The Seattle, Washington, community is mourning the devastating loss of Carlos Villalba, 44, Junior Cee Semo, 19, and Ashley Whitehead, 56, who were identified as the three victims killed in the fatal shooting at Seattle Center during the annual Bite of Seattle festival. The tragic incident turned one of the city’s most anticipated summer events into a scene of panic and heartbreak, leaving families grieving and the community searching for answers.

The shooting occurred shortly before 6:00 p.m. on Sunday as thousands of people gathered to enjoy the annual Bite of Seattle festival, a popular event that attracts residents and visitors from across the region. What began as a day of food, entertainment, and community celebration ended in tragedy when gunfire erupted, sending attendees running for safety and prompting a massive emergency response.

According to investigators, the King County Medical Examiner’s Office later identified the victims as Carlos Villalba, Junior Cee Semo, and Ashley Whitehead. In addition to the three fatalities, four other people suffered gunshot injuries, including a two-year-old child, highlighting the devastating impact the violence had on innocent festivalgoers.

Seattle Police officers responded within minutes after receiving multiple reports of shots fired. Officers quickly secured the area while firefighters and emergency medical personnel rushed to treat the wounded and transport victims to nearby hospitals. Witnesses described scenes of confusion as families sought cover, children were rushed to safety, and festival grounds were left scattered with abandoned strollers, chairs, food, and personal belongings.

Authorities believe the incident involved an exchange of gunfire between multiple individuals inside the crowded public venue. Detectives continue to examine surveillance footage, collect forensic evidence, and interview witnesses to establish exactly how the shooting unfolded and identify everyone involved.

Carlos Villalba, 44, died after suffering a gunshot wound to the torso and was pronounced dead at the scene. Friends and loved ones have remembered him as a compassionate, generous, and selfless individual whose kindness touched countless lives. Those who knew Carlos describe him as someone who always put others before himself and whose warm personality left a lasting impression on everyone he met.

Junior Cee Semo, 19, also died at the scene after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds. Investigators have stated that preliminary evidence suggests Semo may have been among those involved in the exchange of gunfire. However, officials continue to emphasize that the investigation remains active and that no conclusions should be drawn until all evidence has been thoroughly reviewed.

Ashley Whitehead, 56, was critically injured during the shooting and transported to Harborview Medical Center, where medical teams performed emergency surgery in an effort to save her life. Despite their efforts, she later succumbed to her injuries. Family members, friends, and members of the Seattle community are remembering Ashley as an innocent victim whose life was tragically cut short while attending what should have been a joyful community event.

As the investigation progressed, Seattle police announced the arrest of a 15-year-old boy in connection with the shooting. According to court documents, detectives believe the juvenile, Semo, and another suspect who remains at large were involved in the exchange of gunfire. The teenager has been booked on firearms-related offenses and first-degree assault charges, while investigators continue gathering evidence and consulting with prosecutors regarding potential additional charges.

The four surviving victims included a two-year-old boy, who remains hospitalized in satisfactory condition, along with a 39-year-old woman, a 23-year-old man, and a 27-year-old man, all of whom were treated and later released. Officials credited the rapid response of law enforcement, firefighters, and emergency medical personnel with helping prevent an even greater tragedy.

Investigators continue to urge anyone who attended the Bite of Seattle festival and witnessed the shooting to come forward. Detectives are particularly interested in obtaining cellphone videos, photographs, and eyewitness accounts that may help identify additional suspects and clarify the sequence of events.

The deaths of Carlos Villalba, Junior Cee Semo, and Ashley Whitehead have left an immeasurable void in the lives of their families, friends, and communities. Their passing has also renewed conversations throughout Seattle about public safety, gun violence, and protecting families during large public events.

Funeral arrangements and memorial service details for the victims have not yet been publicly announced. Their families continue to receive an outpouring of love, prayers, and support as they navigate this unimaginable loss.

Though the circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation, the memories of Carlos Villalba, Junior Cee Semo, and Ashley Whitehead will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved them. They will be remembered for the lives they lived, the relationships they built, and the lasting impact they made on their families, friends, and the Seattle community. May they all rest in peace.
